Objects Localisation from Motion with Constraints

چکیده
This paper presents a method to estimate the 3D object position and occupancy given a set of object detections in multiple images and calibrated cameras. This problem is modelled as the estimation of a set of quadrics given 2D conics fit to the object bounding boxes. Although a closed form solution has been recently proposed, the resulting quadrics can be inaccurate or even be non valid ellipsoids in presence of noisy and inaccurate detections. This effect is especially important in case of small baselines, resulting in dramatic failures. To cope with this problem, we propose a set of linear constraints by matching the centres of the reprojected quadrics with the centres of the observed conics. These constraints can be solved with a linear system thus providing a more computationally efficient solution with respect to a non-linear alternative. Experiments on real data show that the proposed approach improves significantly the accuracy and the validity of the ellipsoids.

Background Mosaic from Egomotion
In this paper a framework is presented that produces the mosaic corresponding to the background object of an image sequence. It is based on the dominant motion assumption, which states that the background has a parametric motion and occupates the main part of the images. The foreground objects are localised by their different motion. This localisation is computed together with the background mo...
متن کاملForward displacements of fading objects in motion: The role of transient signals in perceiving position
Visual motion causes mislocalisation phenomena in a variety of experimental paradigms. For many displays objects are perceived as displaced 'forward' in the direction of motion. However, in some cases involving the abrupt stopping or reversal of motion the forward displacements are not observed. We propose that the transient neural signals at the offset of a moving object play a crucial role in...
متن کاملInstantaneous Robot Self-Localisation and Motion Estimation with Omnidirectional Vision
This paper presents two related methods for autonomous visual guidance of robots: localisation by trilateration, and inter-frame motion estimation. Both methods use co-axial omnidirectional stereopsis (omnistereo), which returns the range r to objects or guiding points detected in the images. The trilateration method achieves self-localisation using r from the three nearest objects at known pos...

This paper presents a novel navigation architecture for automated carlike vehicles in urban environments. Motion safety is a critical issue in such environments given that they are partially known and highly dynamic with moving objects (other vehicles, pedestrians. . . ). The main feature of the navigation architecture proposed is its ability to make safe motion decisions in real-time, thus tak...
